Why Allah has not given 'what is not' in the Quran? |
Whatever guidance in principle or in detail mankind
really needs, Allah has given in the Quran. About what
He has not given in the Quran, He says the following:
"O you who believe, do not ask about matters which, if made
plain to you may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about
things when the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made
plain to you. GOD has deliberately overlooked them (because
they are redundant or beyond what you really need). GOD is
Forgiver, Clement." [5:101]
So what about matters which we do not find in the Quran?
The guideline about this is also given by Allah that such
matters should be conducted by mutual consultation. See the
following:
"And those, who hearken to their Lord, and establish SALAT,
and whose affairs are decided by mutual consultation, and
who spend out of what WE have provided for them, "[42:38]
The Messenger of Allah was also commanded by Allah to
consult his companions upon the conduct of affairs.
"It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with
them (O Muhammad), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce
of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So
pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with
them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art
resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth
those who put their trust (in Him). " [3:159]
From 3:159, we see that the Messenger of Allah was not an
autocratic leader. His was a consultative government.
There is no place in Islam for any religious decree or FATWA
by a Mufti or a ruling by an Imam as an individual authority
on any matter but everything has to be decided by mutual
consultation. If Muhammad [p.b.u.h] being a Prophet was to
conduct his affairs by mutual consultation then who gives
authority to a Mufti to give a FATWA or an Imam to give a
ruling without any consultation.
